Specialty Treatment Clinics
Our psychologists at Aviva have expertise in the complex connection between physical health and emotional well-being. We offer tailored support for individuals and families through the following specialty clinics: perinatal & infertility, chronic pain, chronic illness & disability, and insomnia.
Our psychologists take a whole-person, integrative approach. By combining expertise in health psychology with relational, evidence-based care we help clients address the ways physical symptoms, emotional experiences, identity, and life context interact. We create personalized care pathways that may include behavioral health interventions, skills-based approaches, relational therapy, and collaboration across providers. We focus on helping you understand the patterns that shape your well-being, develop applied skills that work in real life, and build a sense of agency even in the presence of ongoing health challenges. Our goal is to help you move beyond symptom management toward greater vitality, clarity, and well-being.
What is a specialty clinic?
At Aviva, our specialty clinics offer coordinated, research-supported care for clients with specific health conditions. Each specialty clinic brings together psychologists with advanced training, extensive experience, and certifications in that area. We use targeted assessment tools and evidence-based interventions combined with Aviva’s relational, whole-person, and values-oriented approach.
Working with a psychologist in one of our specialty clinics offers high quality care that is grounded in the latest research. We offer access to a specialized team who is trained to understand the complexities of the intersection of health conditions and mental health. Additionally, our team of health psychologists and perinatal experts collaborate closely, consult regularly, and understand the nuanced ways these challenges impact identity and lived experience. This model allows us to offer care that is not only specialized, but truly responsive to the lived experiences of those we serve.
Our Expertise:
Chronic Pain Clinic
The Chronic Pain Clinic at Aviva Psychology Services supports adults living with persistent pain to reduce suffering and reclaim a sense of agency in their lives. Chronic pain is a complex biological, psychological, social, and emotional experience that can reshape daily routines, impact mood, strain relationships, and erode confidence in one’s body. Many clients come to us feeling isolated, exhausted, or stuck in a cycle of pain flares, activity avoidance, and discouragement. Our team recognizes that your pain is real, multifaceted, and deserving of comprehensive, evidence-based care.
Our doctoral-level clinicians offer time-limited treatments grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain (CBT-CP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Chronic Pain (ACT-CP), and condition-specific protocols when indicated (such as CBT for Headache). Through collaborative goal-setting, active coping skill development, guided experimentation, and support in navigating both daily life and the healthcare system, we help clients reconnect with activities that matter, improve emotional resilience, and experience more control and vitality even when pain persists. Care is available in Boston, Northampton, and via telehealth for adults throughout Massachusetts.
Insomnia Clinic
Sleep is an essential building block to health. The Insomnia Clinic at Aviva Psychology Services supports individuals whose sleep has become a source of stress and worry. Chronic insomnia impacts mood, concentration, energy, relationships, and the ability to function day to day. Most people with insomnia have tried countless strategies on their own and often feel more overwhelmed and discouraged by continued sleep struggles. Our team understands how debilitating insomnia can be, and we provide a compassionate, structured path to reset your relationship with sleep. We help you make sense of your sleep patterns, understand why insomnia persists, and begin building a more predictable, restful sleep experience.
Our clinic offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment that effectively repairs sleep even when insomnia has been present for years. Aviva’s doctoral-level psychologists guide you through a targeted, time-limited treatment that includes comprehensive assessment, sleep tracking, and active skill-building to improve both sleep quality and sleep quantity. We tailor CBT-I to your specific needs—including when insomnia is complicated by pain, trauma, tinnitus, or sleep apnea. With the right tools and expert support, you can learn to fall asleep more easily, stay asleep longer, and rebuild confidence in your ability to rest.
Perinatal and Fertility Clinics
Navigating your family-building journey can feel deeply hopeful and equally complex and anxiey provoking. Whether you are making decisions about planning a family, facing the emotional toll of fertility treatments, coping with pregnancy loss, or stepping into the changes of pregnancy, postpartum and early parenting, we recognize that every phase carries unique emotional, relational, and identity-shifting challenges.
At Aviva Psychology Services, our psychologists have specific training in perinatal mental health from Postpartum Support International and support individuals and couples across the full spectrum of family planning to early parenting and postpartum adjustment.
We are trained to support you wherever you are in your process, from IVF and donor conception, complex grief, pregnancy after loss, birth trauma, identity shifts in parenthood, or mood and anxiety postpartum symptoms. We understand the enormous effects of chronic uncertainty, powerlessness and loss of control that often accompany the family planning and adjustment process.
