Therapy for Adults in Newton and Greater Boston

There are thirteen villages, a school system people move here for, and a calendar that fills itself without help. From the outside it looks settled, and for many people that appearance is the hardest part. Where competence is the local assumption, saying that something is wrong can feel like a status question rather than a health one.

You might run a team of forty and still sit in the driveway for ten minutes before you go inside. You might be handling a parent's medical appointments and a teenager's applications in the same week. You might have built the life you planned and be surprised by how little of it feels like yours.

Money buys a great deal. It does not buy time, and it has never bought the experience of being known. People here often wait until something breaks in a way the neighbors can see. The work is easier and shorter when it starts before that.

Evidence-Based Care From Doctoral-Level Psychologists

Every provider at Aviva has completed doctoral-level clinical training and holds a PhD or PsyD. Doctoral-level psychologists complete extensive graduate and supervised clinical training, including a full-year predoctoral internship and, in some cases, postdoctoral training.

That training shows up in how a course of treatment gets built. Our psychologists practice cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems, psychodynamic therapy, and relational-cultural theory. Individual, group, and relationship formats are all available. The approach is chosen for the person in front of us. No two clients receive exactly the same approach.

Aviva is unwaveringly LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC welcoming. We treat identity and context as part of the clinical picture rather than as something handled separately.

Why Looking Fine Makes It Harder to Ask

In a community where most households appear to be managing, difficulty starts to feel like a private failure rather than a common experience. People assume they are the only one on the street having this year, and the assumption keeps them quiet.

The calendar cooperates with the silence. Between a commute, board meetings, aging parents, and a school year with no slack in it, there is no obvious hour to give away. Something has to come off the schedule for care to fit, and taking something off the schedule feels like a bigger decision than it is.

That kind of strain deserves serious clinical attention, close to home.

How to Get Started

Complete our brief form at avivapsych.com/contact. You don't need to know exactly what you're looking for before reaching out.

Step 2: Connect with our intake team

Our intake coordinator will reach out to discuss your needs, answer questions about availability, and assess if we have a fitting opening in the practice.

Step 3: Begin your first appointment

Your first 2-4 sessions are an exploration of fit and a whole lot of information gathering. Together, you and your psychologist will create a treatment plan to reach your goals.
