Megan Carreiro

Megan Carreiro is a warm and compassionate advanced practicum clinician dedicated to supporting adults across the lifespan in navigating life’s challenges and transitions. She has a particular focus in working with young adults, including college and graduate students, to  learn new coping skills and make choices that align with their values. She values a collaborative therapy process that honors each client’s unique background and experiences.


Her areas of expertise include adjustment-related stressors, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, and interpersonal concerns. She is trained in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness- and values-based approaches. Ms. Carreiro values flexibility, open communication, and meeting clients where they are. Her approach builds on clients’ strengths to enhance self-awareness, coping skills, communication, and meaningful, values-driven change.

Approach to therapy

Ms. Carreiro’s approach to therapy is recovery-oriented, flexible, and collaborative. In addition to drawing  from CBT, DBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), she  integrates mindfulness and values-based strategies to support clients in building awareness, strengthening coping skills, and making desired changes in their lives. Her work addresses psychosocial stressors, equips clients with practical skills to navigate life transitions and challenges, and empowers them to access both internal strengths and external sources of support. She is committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, build on their strengths, and move toward personally meaningful goals. Her therapeutic style is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and flexibility, and she values collaboration and adapting treatment to fit each person’s needs and circumstances.
