Dr. Cannon empowers her clients with self-awareness and skills that enable them to help themselves. She provides an empathetic, validating, and honest space for exploration and practice. Dr. Cannon guides clients to hold themselves accountable while also encouraging patience, gentleness, and kindness towards themselves and others.
Approach to therapy
Dr. Cannon offers individual and couple therapy with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, OCD, addictive behaviors, career issues, unsatisfying relationships, grief, perfectionism, stress, and other common experiences in today’s world. Therapy sessions are tailored to clients’ goals, values, and strengths. Dr. Cannon incorporates Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), including reflections (“What I hear you saying is…”), open-ended questions (“How was it?”), and affirmations (“You can do hard things!”). She emphasizes mindfulness practice to help clients develop nonjudgmental awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, cultivate self-compassion, and build tolerance for uncomfortable experiences.
