Lauren Clinton
Starting therapy can be challenging, especially for the first time. Dr. Clinton aims to create a warm, compassionate, and trusting space for clients to explore and process thoughts & feelings, develop key insights, and challenge themselves safely. Dr. Clinton believes that forming agenuine relationship is a key ingredient in therapy, and utilizes emotion-focused language, authenticity, collaboration, and humor to facilitate open expression.
Dr. Clinton is experienced working with adults across the life span dealing with a variety of issues, including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, grief, and interpersonal concerns. Dr. Clinton has specialized interest/training working with complex trauma and related symptoms, as well aswith healthcare providers and related stressors, such as burnout and patient loss/grief. Dr. Clinton also has extensive experience working with college/graduate students and enjoys working with young adults around issues of anxiety, academic pressure/perfectionism and life transitions.
Approach to therapy
Dr. Clinton utilizes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic, interpersonal, and behavioral theories. Additionally, she approaches therapy from a trauma-informed lens, with emphasis on sex/body positivity and a feminist/multicultural framework. Dr. Clinton recognizes that each person is unique, and will work collaboratively to determine a treatment approach that works best for you!
